CH Men by Carolina Herrera Review

Thursday, December 11, 2014

When it comes to fragrances, I'm hard to please - and so should everyone else! I'm not a fragrance fanatic however, and I won't claim myself to be an expert on the matter but it's obvious that an unsuitable fragrance does you more harm than good. The CH Men by Carolina Herrera was in my shopping list for two months before I decided to grab a bottle - and I honestly do not know why I hesitated buying it in the first place.

Carolina Herrera CH Men

Testing Phase

I tested CH Men THREE TIMES at a nearby department store before finally getting one. The first time I was browsing and testing through many fragrances and I clearly remembered the CH Men's distinctive and pleasant smell that I went again and tried it a week later. Still I hesitated and didn't buy it then as well.

Among my favorites is the unique Aqua Fahrenheit by Christian Dior, which has become sort of a benchmark for any of my future fragrance purchases. Suffice to say I'm no stranger to unique smells. The CH Men smelled different, and like Aqua Fahrenheit (or the original Fahrenheit), it's the good kind.

The third time I went to try it out was with a colleague and I sprayed it on my throat. Walked around the department store for 10 minutes before meeting her at the women's fragrance isle. Despite all the fragrance she tested on herself, she picked up my scent and asked to show her which fragrance I used. I introduce the CH Men and she told me if I don't buy it, she's going to buy one for her boyfriend. I demanded an explanation and she elaborated that it smells soft yet masculine, and to quote her, "very sexy".

With a comment like that, would you still pick-up that commoner One Million? Of course you won't. So we both bought a bottle each.

A worthy fragrance

If I have a negative comment about CH Men it would be its longevity. An average 4-6 hours. Aside from that I am very pleased with it.

If you're into sweet scents with hints of masculinity and sophistication, I'd say look no further - the CH Men should be your top pick. After a week of use, I'd have to say this is now a favorite of mine - not because I like it but because of the amount of compliments I've received when wearing it - and isn't that what counts? A guy (actually two guys but the other one was drunk) even gathered his guts to ask me what fragrance I was wearing. Surprisingly, most don't know Carolina Herrera made scents for men which is a plus for guys who want to stand out. It's very underrated in a sense.

I have to say though that in my experience, I find this best used during the night like on a date or at social gatherings as it projects a little too well during the day. Having people stare at you in the train, even if they are nice stares, can get a little embarrassing. In this case, applying less is best.
